A lifelong resident of Chicago's west side, Jill Bush is absolutely committed to making the 29th Ward a more peaceful place to
live, with more jobs, better education, and quality health care available to all. Whether it's helping Loretto Hospital get new, state-of-the-art, clinical equipment
and transportation vehicles, or supporting many health and screening programs for breast and prostate cancer, diabetes, and other health issues in the 29th Ward,
or working alongside her husband Thomas in his duties as precinct captain, Jill's strong commitment to her community is evident in the work she has done and continues
to do, every single day.
Jill understands that the way to reducing and even eliminating crime lies in the citizens of the 29th Ward having access to better education, which leads to better
jobs, and so less crime overall. With this understanding, Jill has volunteered and worked on various committees in the 29th Ward, including the Austin Back to
School program and the Scholarship Committee. Jill actively advocates for more and better schools in the ward, and is researching ways to give the schools in the
29th Ward back to the children, so they can go to school without fear of gangs, and get an education that will help them become the brighter future of the community.
Crime statistics for the 29th Ward are some of the worst in the city, and Jill is working to reduce the rate of crime by working with block clubs and with CAPS to help
everyone see that there are no victimless crimes, that families are being shattered, and the killing, drug dealing, and domestic violence have to stop. Jill chairs a
committee to create a memorial for victims of all crimes in the 29th Ward, to put names and faces in front of people to help them realize the pain and the loss that crime
is causing. Jill is also working to get residents of the community involved in taking responsibility for their block by calling in suspicious activity, and cleaning up
their small area, so the 29th Ward overall will be a more desirable place to live.
Jill's desire to help senior citizens in the 29th Ward resulted in a transportation vehicle for Loretto Hospital when Jill wrote a successful grant application for a van to
transport them to and from their appointments at the hospital. This vehicle picks seniors up at their door and delivers them to the hospital, and takes them home again once
their health concerns have been addressed.
Jill is currently working with Dr. Sandy Goldberg, NBC Channel 5 nutritionist, and of the Silver Lining Foundation, to offer breast cancer mammograms for the women of th 29th
Ward. The "Buy a Mom a Mammogram" program provides free mammogram screenings at Loretto Hospital, along with follow-up care if needed.
For a better community and a brighter future, support Jill Bush in her candidacy for alderman of the 29th Ward.
